Character sprites only work on SillyTavern at the time of writing.
So you finally created your character bot. Congratulations! You can now finally chat with your favorite character. However, you cannot help but feel like something is missing. A lack of connection perhaps. While you are talking to them, all you're really seeing is a chat log (like any ordinary chatbot). Well, what if I told you you can see your character react to what you say (whether it be friendly conversation or something "steamy"). Well in this guide, we will be teaching you how to make that happen using Stable Diffusion and something called "time and patience."
If you're character is from a game in which sprites already exists for them, then you may be in luck. You can possibly use them in some way or modify them to express different emotions without too much work. If you're character is from a Visual Novel or a game that uses sprites, you can check out this site to see if such sprites exists for them or rip them from the game themselves (however we don't endorse that).
While using Stable Diffusion may be daunting at first, with a plethora of options, words and settings; by following this guide, you will hopefully have an easier time creating your character sprites for use in SillyTavern. Without further a-do, let's get started shall we?
First Warning in regards to Existing/Old Builds Stable Diffusion WebUI copies
This guide only works for up-to-date Stable Diffusion WebUI versions. If you are on a old version of Stable Diffusion WebUI, I suggest updating it via
git pullor the manual update method that Automatic1111 covers in his wiki.
If you are unsure if your version is old or if you are missing features, just
git pullor manually update Stable Diffusion WebUI.
